Bereavement Camps for Children

SKY Camp

SKY Camp is a weekend bereavement camp for children held outside Amarillo, TX. It is a free camp funded by Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation held annually in late June at Ceta Canyon Camp & Retreat. Camp Odyssey

Camp Odyssey is for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one. This year, it will be held in late August. The Odyssey HealthCare site in Mobile, AL conducts the camp and it is funded by the Foundation. Camp Atagahi at Wyandot

Camp Fire USA Central Ohio Council founded Camp Atagahi at Wyandot as a place of healing and hope for children. It is a week-long sleep-away camp for boys and girls designed to help them cope with the recent death of a loved one. Camp Sunburst

Camp Sunburst in an overnight bereavement camp for children that is a cooperative effort by three local hospices in the Upstate South Carolina community. The camp is for children 6-12 years old and is offered at no charge. Camp Carey

Camp Carey is a nonprofit Christian mountain camp where children ages 5-12 can be counseled, comforted and ministered to from the loss of a loved one. Camp Carey is located in Arvada, CO and will be held on October 2-3, 2010. Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation supports the camp through scholarships for children who can not afford to pay to attend. Camp Odyssey

Comfort Zone Camp

Camp Odyssey powered by Comfort Zone Camp will be held October 23-24, 2010 at the Christian Church Conference Center in Silver Springs, FL. Comfort Zone Camp, one of the nation’s premier children’s bereavement camp programs, is partnering with Camp Odyssey to provide a fun and safe experience for grieving children. This is a first time camp and will be limited to 30 campers ages 7-14. Comfort Zone Camp

Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of Comfort Zone Camp (CZC). CZC will hold a children’s bereavement camp at Camp Burgess in Sandwich, MA on August 27-29 for ages 7-17. Each camper will be paired one-to-one with a trained Big Buddy. Campers will be organized into support groups called Healing Circles led by trained grief professionals.
